Clarion is spreading opportunity and happiness with its social responsibility programme. The programme is divided into categories including Senior Citizens; Youth - pre-school; Feeding schemes; Education and Training; the Disabled and Fund Raising events.
In 2007 Clarion supported the Ethembeni Children Care in Mfuleni and WARMTH, Catholic Welfare and Development's feeding scheme for the poor in Khayalitsha. Clarion has undertaken to contribute a generous monthly amount over the next year towards these two worthy projects.
Over Easter, members of the Clarion Social Awareness Committee delivered Easter eggs to the Ethembeni Children's home. The committee also enjoyed a guided tour of the facility.
At Christmas a donation of essential toiletries was made to the D.P. Marais Tuberculosis (TB) Hospital in Retreat. 300 items were given including soap, toothpaste, deodorant, razors and sweets, for use by the poorest of the poor patients undertaking treatment for TB.
Recently Clarion sponsored the Constantia Rotary Golf Day held at Steenberg Golf Club to raise funds for two foetal heart monitors for the Retreat Community Centre. The machines will assist to save the lives of hundreds of babies in distress. Clarion provided half-way house snacks, manufactured and erected event banners and signage, and supplied prizes for the winners.
Clarion has made a contribution towards the fees of a disadvantaged student teacher at Cape Town Technicon. Clarion believes in offering a helping hand to students worthy of support.
HIV/Aids awareness is high on the agenda at Clarion. Besides formulating an HIV/AIDS Company policy document to create awareness within the company, Clarion donated 100 metres of banner roll to the National Aids Week Business Bannerthon held in late 2007 to raise awareness of the epidemic in our country.
During the cold, wet winter season, staff at Clarion rallied support for the Good Hope FM/Nigel Pierce Blanket outreach campaign. 35 employees made a contribution to the project which was matched equally by a donation from the Clarion social responsibility budget.
